Steven Johnston was called to the Bar in Manitoba in 1996 and in Alberta in 2010. He is a Crown Attorney with Specialized Prosecutions Branch of Alberta Justice and had been with Specialized Prosecutions in Manitoba prior to that. Steven's practice is largely composed of "complex" criminal prosecutions which involve white collar and/or organized crime aspects. Many of these cases also involve large amounts of computer created/derived data. He also prosecutes large multi-national fraud cases. Steven is a sessional instructor at the Canadian Police College on the Digital Technologies for Investigators Course, the Network Investigators Course. He is a National Co-Chair for the Osgoode Hall Tech Crime and Electronic Evidence Program. He has also lectured on fraud related matters at the FBI, USDOJ, SEC, American Bar Association, American Conference, RCMP, CPS, Winnipeg Police Service, Canadian Institute and Lexpert. He is a subject matter expert at the World Bank and World Bank STAR in the area of foreign corruption and money laundering.
